Drawing on textiles | Collection 2 | Solo show | The Horse Hospital
My vision halts me.
I am working with pure darkness,
slowly fabric is marked with the depths of oak ink.
I've said it now.
Neringa Dastoor grew up in Soviet Lithuania but has studied and worked elsewhere since 1999. Perhaps this experience of relocation and dislocation has created a tension between a systematic approach and an individual, fragmented, and somewhat chaotic one. This selection of drawings on fabric focuses on the role of an artist moving from being as someone present and absent at other times. The slow relationship with materials and the preparation time allow explorations of the emerging narratives.
